Research published in the New England Journal of Medicine suggests that sometimes it can. They have found a link between urinary tract and respiratory tract infections and heart attacks.

Bronchitis, cystitis, and pneumonia increased the risk of having a heart attack whilst you are ill with those infections.

The reason is that deposits on the artery walls that are ’stable’ may break off during an infection, which can then lead to a heart attack. So extra care should be taken during those times. A good immune supplement boost could give that extra level of protection.http://www.vitaminstohealth.com/immune-system-supplement.html

Dr Douglas Fleming, from the Royal College of GPs, said: “As a rule, patients with slight bronchitis do not need to see their GP, however if their bronchitis is a problem then they should make an appointment.

“If a patient has a history of heart disease and the weather is particularly cold then they should try to stay indoors.”
