Eyelash Vitamin E - Waste or Boon?
If you're interested in eyelash vitamin e to strengthen or thicken eyelashes, or make them grow longer, I'd recommend using your money on more productive endeavors.
Paula Begoun, the 'Cosmetic Cop", writes that there is not a product out there that will actually lengthen or thicken eyelashes. She says the best you can do is to use mascara and lash primers to create longer looking lashes. See this article for more information on these recommendations.
My own research on applying vitamin e topically found that, in the case of people applying vitamin e to post operative scars, 1/3 of them had an allergic reaction, or contact dermatitis, or another reaction that aggravated their skin. And given that the eye is a sensitive area, it may cause problems here too. For that reason alone I would be cautious about applying eyelash vitamin e oil.
Vitamin e plays a role in the body as an antioxidant. It is recommended for those interested in supporting the growth of healthy hair, whether that be eyelash or regular hair. But as a supplement, or as part of a healthy diet, not applied topically. Vitamin E is will help to provide good blood circulation to the scalp by increasing the uptake of oxygen.
But defining exactly what a healthy diet is when it comes to preventing hair loss can be a little more complex. The main vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that one must consume in some form to maintain healthy hair are vitamin A, all B vitamins - particularly vitamins B-6 and B-12, folic acid, biotin, vitamin C, vitamin E, copper, iron, zinc, iodine. And of course, protein, silica, essential fatty acids (EFA’s, formerly known as vitamin F) and last but not least one must have water. There are also certain foods that may cause dysfunctions that will contribute to hair loss.
So, with regards eyelash vitamin e, you'll do more by getting a bottle of good quality supplements that support hair health. Bamboo tabashir, which is rich in vegetal silica, is another good option.
